October 21, 2019 testimony

Good morning, DearHeart.

This weekend my kids either moved or helped each other move into new homes. It was crazy. And, it is a new beginning in the stories of their lives.

Growing up in the church, I remember there being a portion of the service dedicated to “testimonies” – when people were given opportunity to share stories about how God was at work in their life.

Testimonies – our stories – they matter.

“And they have defeated him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” (Revelation 12:11, NLT)

Our testimonies, our stories, become the means by which we overcome and defeat the enemy of our souls. Satan would love for nothing better than to destroy or mar our testimonies.

He works at trying to make our testimonies ineffective because He knows they wield a powerful effect when combined with God’s Word. Our stories can encourage others, infusing them with hope, as they hear of God’s work in our lives.

May our stories tell not of our own achievements but of God’s power at work in, and through, our situations.

“Great faith is the product of great fights. Great testimonies are the results of great tests. Great triumphs can only come out of great trials.” (Smith Wigglesworth)

When we share our stories, people unite with each other and with our Maker. You know that tingling feeling you get when you hear a story that resonates within? Your story does the same to others. Start where you are and share your heart and watch Love settle into the cracked places to seal bridges to unity.

“I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.”

John 17:23 NLT

Wake up.

Share your story.

October 16, 2019 Holly

Good morning, DearHeart.

I post and repost a lot about my artist girl, Dani (Bryan’s wife), but not so much about my Holly. She’s my steady constant and a quieter force of nature. Levi’s little family has been living with us while building their house. They will be moving out this weekend. You know how crazy I am about my sons … God had me wait for the gift of my girls, and oh what a gift! I’m selfish – I don’t want them to go. The moment I met her, I knew my daughter-in-law, Holly, was the one for Levi. And, the one for us. It was a simple introduction at a high school basketball game. When she shook my hand – something clicked, and I knew. This past ten months of living under the same roof has been everything you can imagine. Sometimes awkward, sometimes messy, sometimes side-splitting laughter, lots of knowing glances, and a whole lot of growth for us all.

Holly has a gift of leveling any situation with a practical perspective and common sense. She’s a God-loving wife, mother, 3rd grade teacher … she is raising a precious strong-willed daughter, birthed a precious son in June, she is working on her Master’s, all while building a house and living with her in-laws! She’s a tough warrior. And, using my dad’s terms, “she’s got a head full of brains.” Not only is she beautiful, she has a natural warmth, easy and constant. This season has marked us all for the better. My girls have my heart. And, if my eyes seem swollen and are leaking next week, you’ll know why. I’m so happy for them as this new part of their life begins in their new home. But, I’d be fine if they didn’t go. ❤️

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:4-8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Wake up.

Love your peeps.

October 3, 2018 blooming

Good morning, DearHeart.

When we owned the flower shop, we would have the occasional need to put flowers in warmer water to get their blooms to open. When it began to be slightly, or partially, or half open, even then we would say that it is ‘blooming’.

Sometimes, when we face tough times we gather strength, not perfect strength, but enough strength to serve us through the difficult days. Maybe ‘moderate’ strength. Even if it is only 50% strength, and not enough to be fully confident, when we ask the power of the Holy to help, then that partial becomes enough.

Be confident in that strength.

Cover your mind, mood, and emotions so saturated with the extra strength of the Holy Spirit that bitterness, harsh-filled voices, and aggressive body language slide right past you.

They own their issues. Not you. You have your own stuff to work out. God is dealing with their bitterness on a level not meant for you or me to understand.

Be respectful.

Be obedient and gentle with God’s child. But, be careful to not be slammed down by the enemy’s psychotic attempt to destroy your peace through a troubled soul.

That is not for you or me to judge.

You are in the shelter of GOD ALMIGHTY. DearOne, you don’t have to react back to them with the same bitterness they deliver to you. You are fueled by supernatural power.

Be strong. Fire the stabs they deliver as far as the east is from the west. And, pray that take up their ownership of peace with the Creator.

Remember, we call a flower “blooming” whether it is half open or in full bloom.

‘Watch out, brothers, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception.’ Hebrews 3:12-13

Wake up.

Bloom in your strength.

October 2, 2019 prayer

Good morning, DearHeart. Sometimes, no matter how much it hurts, God calls us to set boundaries from the attacks and the attackers. He says:

“Child, this is my battle. Back out. Love like crazy from a distance until I give you the opening to go back in. Let them say what they want to whomever they want. This is My battle.”

Proverbs 19:19 – “Hot-tempered people must pay the penalty. If you rescue them once, you will have to do it again.”

Be careful. Many times, the best you can do is step back in prayer.

You keep praying for your people, and I will, too.

In reading God’s Word and prayer, I have been called before to sit in SILENCE in order to be in obedience to Him for a while. I didn’t want to – the ego in me wants to fight back. But, the heart in me wants to fix everything – even the parts and the hearts that don’t want to be fixed. Stay steadfast in prayer … prayer is not a substitute for hard work, prayer is the work.

I can tell you the level of peace and freedom since agreeing to His prompting opened me up to let joy in again.

You just keep going right back to His Word as your guide. He is faithful to lead you from there.

I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. But, sometimes it helps to be reminded, right?

You are here for a reason. They are where they are for a reason. Take a deep breath and pray gratitude prayers and guidance prayers. He is already working out the details. “You supported me because of my integrity and set in in Your presence forever.” Psalm41:12

I love you.

Wake up.

In prayer, lay it at the cross.

Be guided by the Word.

October 1, 2019 loving well

Good morning, DearHeart.

When someone loves you– you know it, you feel it, you see it, you hear it.

And, when you love – they know it, feel it, see it, hear it.

But, when we allow God to love us, that is a whole new level …

‘In this, love is perfected with us so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment, for we are as He is in this world.’ (1 John 4:17 HCSB)

‘We are as He is.’

Let that echo in your brain a while. Let that bump around in your heart chambers. Let that park itself into your psyche.

You are as He is.

Have you ever seen an ape give birth to a peacock?

Or, an ostrich give birth to an elephant?

Have you ever seen a gazelle give birth to a dog?

Of course not!

Each gives birth to its own kind. When we are born again in Christ, we are as He is in this world … not as He is in our next life, not as he is when we reach eternity – now. This moment.

Believer, He has birthed HIM in you. Do not take that lightly.

The fullness of the Maker of the Universe is alive and active in you

– as you step out of your slumber

– as you eat your Captain Crunch

– as you greet your friends and co-workers

– as you check your agenda

– as you sit down at your desk

– as you listen to the news

– as you turn the radio dial

– as words fall from your tongue;

be so in touch with the POWER of His presence coursing through you, and beaming from you that His love keeps drawing every soul to Him, the Maker of the Universe.

We must be aware of who we are in Him – eternity is at stake.

Wake up.

Acknowledge the Holy Spirit working in and through YOU!

September 27, 2019 dreaming

Good morning, DearHeart.

I dreamed Alana had two more sons to add to her 4 grown sons. I woke up giggling. Why do we dream the things we dream?

From the sleep, our body relaxes and then rattles back into morning. I believe each dream – even the bizarre ones – come to shake us from the day’s to-do list and make us take a glimpse at our deeper, endless world. Each dream of the night, deep, daring, deliberate, serves to point us into desire for our union with the Holy One. We dream of reunion. We return from a rest of being born and reborn, night after night, with mud caked to the soles of our feet, our hair smelling like the damp earth, our sleep shirt singed on the edge from the campfire.

From the night-land, we step into day clothes and into day lives.

We sit behind a wheel,

behind a screen,

behind a stove,

in front of a boss,

a teacher,

a customer.

We breathe the life of the Savior into every encounter if we so choose … our creations, our corporate world, our decisions, our art, our plans, our education, our industry, our rights, our freedoms, our duties. We breathe Him there. We set our hearts into Him by deliberate choice. The Creator-driven life is not only sustainable in our world, He sustains all worlds.

“And he came to a certain place and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it! And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring. Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:11-15 ESV

Wake up.

Dream again.

September 25, 2019 miracle

Good morning, DearHeart.

Have you ever been delivered from a bad place? Ever? Has God ever opened a door for a miracle to walk through on your behalf?

Of the 7 billion people on the planet your mom found your dad and had you – and generation upon generation the same thing happened to get your ancestors together so that you could be here now. All of it divinely orchestrated – because before the formation of the universe, your Maker had you in mind. Because, He knew the world needed the gift of your presence. That in itself is a miracle.

You might not know or understand why you are here, but I guarantee – it’s a set up.

You have been chosen.

Hand picked.

Delivered to this day.

Someone needs something that only you can offer. They need to know the Savior and the only way they can know Him is through you.

You didn’t know it, but the God of the Angel Armies circles this date on the calendar for the miracle of “you” to move forward for His kingdom. Oh, yes, He did!!

God moves in you.

He changes your motives and your motivation to align with His when you ask. He gives you His supernatural boldness to step out in huge leaps of faith. He allows you to recognize the miracles happening all around you.

And, when you pray, He shakes souls to the core – moving them toward Him. Prayer disables the enemy’s plans against you as the hand of God does whatever He predestined to take place through you. Just like He did with Peter and John.

Do not take that lightly.

And, do not underestimate His plans for you.

“But everything they did was determined beforehand according to your will. And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” Acts 4:28-30 NLT

Wake up.

Pray and be shaken.

Take a leap of extreme faith.

September 20, 2019 mom

Today is our Mother’s birthday. I think there are 32 of us now who call her Mom or Gram, and she makes each one of us feel like we are the most loved person on the planet.

I want to be just like her.

She is a gift.

We are so blessed.

Thank you, God for the gift of our Mother.

Happy birthday, Mom!

(We’ll take a new picture with everyone when Turner and family are in from South Korea).

“If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.”

“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:3 &13 NLT

September 19, 2019 so close

Good morning, DearHeart.

All three of my sons have either recently moved or are about to move to different homes. And the process with each home has been, well … a process.

Sometimes tedious.

Sometimes tiring.

Sometimes frustrating.

I keep remembering one of my father-in-law’s, Poppy’s, daily, go-to phrases: “anything worth doing is worth doing right”; and if it wasn’t right he made us back up and start over. He was a perfectionist. No shortcuts. He taught us to stick with it even when it was hard. Because, he knew the reward and the pride that would come for a job well done. He knew it would be so worth it. He was right …

* “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 NIV).

* “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NIV).

* “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:35,36).

We are not to give up. We are to be persistent & persevere. We really cannot conceive all that God has for us.

You know, I’m not the same person I was 5 years ago, or ten years ago. Life changes us and shapes us.

I have found myself wondering …What did I miss those times I gave up? Could it be that I gave up when I was right on the edge? Was I on the verge of a breakthrough? Could it be that something was about to happen? Perhaps about to change? May I be faithful to keep on keeping on.

At all times.

In all ways.

You just never know when something will reap a harvest … always at the proper time.

The Proper Time = His time.

Wake up.

Press on. You’re so close.

September 17, 2019 priorities

Good morning, DearHeart.

Priorities… what are your choices today?

How will you think?

What will you do?

With whom will you share this gift of a day?

Will you choose email over prayer? Will you go to the fridge to numb your boredom, or go to the Word to gain His direction?

Where’s your habit meter when it comes to obeying your inner call to stay in touch with your Christ? Whether it is through the flame of a fireplace or a candle, the voice from a soul He sends your way, playing with a child, or cuddling with your pup … be fully awake to allow the voice of your Savior break through your Spirit.

Send Your angels of protection, Lord. Help me guard my priorities.

Have mercy.

Your mercy is lovely.

Lift my courage, please.

I need You.

I love You.

Thank You, Father.

Thank you.

Prayer diffuses from us in all shapes and sizes and avenues. Each one spoken brings grace in. Our hearts are the alter, and this is the place to begin to reap the rewards of sacred priorities.

Sacred choice.

Attend first the call of The Holy Spirit, and His work in you and me becomes His work of art.

This day will be His work of art in us.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” Matthew 6:33

Wake up.

Quietly invite your Savior.

Priority one.
