December 14, 2016 will vs expectation

Standard

God with us. Set your will in His.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will declare to you the things that are to come.” John‬ ‭16:13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Good morning, Beloved.

We focus on the Christ child. The birth we celebrate this season is the marking point of being shifted. If you dared to be so brave, you brave soul, you would admit that you, too, have felt Him stir.

Allow Him to have His way, (as Mary did),

and will His way into being (like Joseph).

The Holy Spirit comes and plants seeds of sparks, seeds of possible, not impossible…and He guides you and me with authority.

Alone, I would go cold.

Or, laugh you off at the audacity.

Or, hide away.

‘Expectation’ is not confirmation of what is to come. It’s not manifestation of an expected end. It’s a distraction, really.

A distraction from today.

But, ‘will’, ‘will’ is different.

Because, will happens when you choose to fully show up in today, as Mary and Joseph did, you focus on the give, not the get. It doesn’t really matter that the meeting went off track, or that the outcome was … different (it created a new beginning). The net gain of a new perspective, of the shift is this:

show up,

shine,

give,

move on.

Lay down the expectation, and feel the shift.

Anxiety drains away.

Streaming calm fills in. Shifted.

Expectations shrink me from God’s best for me. They weigh me down with worry and formulas and analyses, ‘if/then’, and ‘what/if’s’.

But, God’s will be done … there’s my paintbrush,

my oil,

my secret potion,

my sanity.

Like Mary and Joseph … I’m most interested the power of will, His planted sparks, His best that is lying in front of me.

What expectations are consuming your shine? Let them go.

Let them go.

Wake up.

Will His way in you.

(Thy will be done).

Go.

December 13, 2016 crazed devotion

Standard

“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Good morning, SweetSoul,

God is faithful, if we will be faithful.

He is a God of everyday miracles, isn’t He. He loves impossible situations. As long as you keep showing up to spend moments in His presence, He keeps showing up in your hours.

We are born with a longing for more…

more of this,

more of that,

more peace,

more time,

more understanding,

yet, here, on earth, we never really arrive at a full fix.

Just when we get close, the growth cycle adds a new ingredient that changes the chemistry.

Circumstances change.

The fight ramps up.

Grief catches us off guard.

Nothing is certain here, it has to do with perspective.

And, laughing in the kitchen.

And, crying on the closet floor.

And, begging God to show up, again. And, again.

I try to place myself in the shoes of a trusting Joseph and Mary. Each wondering, in the back of their minds, “maybe, I’m just crazy”.

I think of the lengths they went to be intimate with God Most High. The extreme, laser beam focus that took them from

talk to action,

dark days to light,

confusion to clarity.

Asking the Almighty, just like we do, “can You talk to me about that just a bit more?”

They did the same thing we are called to do. They fought for their joy. Was there an easier way to get to eternity? Was it worth it to be deemed nearly mad? Certainly, to feel they were losing control while losing everything else.

They felt the Light.

They trusted the presence of the Holy.

They learned, on the journey, that joy bends time.

In crazed devotion,

you’ll walk through fires,

you’ll get bloodied,

you’ll learn to be very thorough,

you’ll protect at high costs,

you’ll be pulled in to His power,

and then joy. Crazed devotion.

They learned that their joy increased, as their devotion increased.

And, they built a family

 …based on the joy

     …of the promise of eternity

…that began in a stable. It’s worth it.
Wake up.

Fight for your joy.

Go.

December 9, 2016 peace love joy

Standard

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Same verse DearOnes, 2nd try (since I accidentally hit the trash icon y’day and lost my thoughts 😬)

I wonder what Jesus would think if He walked through a big box store or a mall today? What would he say to the ragged mom, toddler on her hip, shopping buggy filled with presents she’ll be paying for til June.

What would he say to Grumps at the back of the line, cursing the kid that ran the cart up on the back of his heels? Or, if Jesus reached for the last loaf of bread and got shoved out of the way by a hurried group of people?

He would love anyway.

He has placed you and me right where He wants us – even if that means surrounded by commercialism and preoccupied people this Christmas. Go ahead, with everyone you come in contact let Light shine from you onto them. Don’t think it odd that you get trapped in an aisle – instead, lift your heart out of the confusion long enough to hear the solution of the Almighty. You are where you are by Divine appointment. Hard or twisted hearts don’t phase the Father. Problem people don’t puzzle their Creator.

Allow God to fill you, then use you to deliver

His love,

His peace,

His joy.

Wake up.

Open to the presence of His peace.

Go.

December 5, 2016 show up

“And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful.” Colossians‬ ‭3:15‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Good morning, Peace-seeker.

What is the reading of your peace-gauge today?

Mother Teresa said, “if we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

Christmas season to-do lists can cause stress and anxiety. Especially for the ones wanting perfection.

Fellowship, Feasting, Giving,

also means:

shopping,

cleaning,

wrapping,

baking,

pressure, pressure, pressure …

DearOne, stop for a while and allow your heart to simply show-up in the presence of the Christ Child. Let Him permeate your thanks for His presence and for the people with whom you belong.

One of my soap-boxes to my people is simply this:

‘Never underestimate the power of showing up.’

Even more dynamic events are set in motion when you choose to show up for the One who calls you to live in peace. Wrap your mind around the perfect Child born to bring peace to mankind.

There you will find direction emerges.

Passion spreads its wings.

Air currents align.

Peace-seekers know how to fly. They don’t wage time counting the minutes escaping their life and blaming their spouse or mom, or dad, or the president, or the joint pain, or the lousy job market. If you’re always angry, always in victim-mode, you’re never blessed. Especially, if you are mad at yourself.

Fear attracts fear.

Love attracts love.

Peace attracts peace.

Seek His presence. He is waiting for you to show up so He can stir your heart and beat jungle drums around it. Revolutions begin when you choose to enter His peace-presence. And, your world will never be the same again.
Wake up.

Show up.

Go.

December 5, 2016 simplicity

“God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him.” 1 John‬ ‭4:9‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Good morning, Beloved.

Feeling hopeless?

Lifeless and tired?

Loveless and empty?

Welcome then, to this powerful day! When The Most High God sent His Jesus to earth, He sent hope and love and life. Stop here and recite John 3:16.

For God so loved the world

that He gave His only begotten son,

that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life.

The next verse continues on to say that God did not send Jesus to condemn the world, but to save it. I sigh (sometimes I shudder) when I think of the condemnation and shame that religion and rules often cast down on us, diverting our hearts away from the simplicity of God’s perfect ways. Don’t let this just be another religious holiday season.

Instead, open your heart and let Christmas change you.

Let this be a powerful day of reckoning with the simple facts …

the Christ child from the manger grew,

He took on all our sin and shame,

He conquered death with you and me on His heart,

He took our place.

Ask Him to be the center of your life and fill you with His love.

Then, look into God’s face and tell Him you have received His most powerful Christmas gift.

Wake up.

Receive the Gift.

Go.
This Christmas, I will believe in: God’s Gift.

I will be thankful for: the simplicity of your ways.

I will always remember: He came and delivered my eternity.
