“Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:2-4 NLT
Good morning, Spirit-filledOne,
Are you drawn to fire? Campfires … candles … stove top … flames? As a child of the Living God, I think we all have a fascination with a flame. I feel sure Joseph and Mary tended many a fire to keep the Savior Child warm and fed and keep His human physical warmth needs met so to tender the focus of His inner fire.
Most of us would do better if we became more aware of tending the Fire of our walk. Too often, we get side tracked, turn our back on the stove, forget to watch, forget to add fuel, forget to stir. We passively think our Fire is like one of those houseplants that can go for months, ignored – then the poor thing wilts to nothing.
The Fire bears watching, for it is easy to ignore. Without His flame, we go flat with the rage of unfulfilled mundane.
But, when tended – oh, when tended … the ability is fueled to measure things by a heart-glance, to weigh in an instant, to clear debris around an idea, to give the thing a name, to fire the essence of it with His vitality.
Then, when the fire of His Holy Spirit in us is tended, the same Power indwells in you and me that made it possible for a single tiny baby to lend Himself to giving you and me access to become an heir of the Kingdom of God Almighty.
That’s some kind of Power. I want to keep burning red-hot. Do you?
Wake up.
Tend the Fire.
Go.
