“Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean.
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.” Luke 1:29, 38 NLT
Good morning, God’s Child,
I wonder if Gabriel was as confused as Mary. The angel of privilege – to deliver such news, the coming of long expected Messiah was very near … and, The Almighty was using this little girl … ! “Excuse me, Sir, did you say go to … HER? That one?! She’s a child … she’s never even been outta town … they will stone her … You can’t really mean … her?!”
God’s ways aren’t our ways. Mary knew – she’d sat with her mother and the women – she’d heard their chatter and their remarks – she would now be the topic of their circle.
Mary set the bar high – she chose to let go of the expectations … her’s and everyone else’s, and make room to simply trust.
Maybe you need to launch out of expectations for your life and simply trust your Creator. No matter what. Space that is consumed by expectations crowds out fulfillment. Fears clog up that space, and noise of all those self-demands interrupts the signal of the Holy. Freeing up space is a choice. Your choice. So just amp up the intensity of the desire to trust and give His ways space to enter in.
For Gabriel and Mary, trusting changed the course of all of creation. If it worked for them, it is meant to work as powerfully for you and me.
Wake up.
Make room for trust.
Go.
