December 28, 2015 prioritize

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” Matthew‬ ‭6:33‬ ‭

Good morning, Beloved,

What are your choices today? How will you think, what will you do? With whom will you share this gift of a day? Will you choose email over prayer? Will you go to fridge to numb your boredom or go to the Word to gain His direction? Where’s your habit meter when it comes to obeying your inner call to stay in touch with your Christ? Whether it is through the flame of a fireplace or a candle, the voice from a soul He sends your way, playing with a child, or cuddling with your pup … be fully awake to allow the voice of your Savior to break through your Spirit.

Send Your angels of protection.

Have mercy.

That is lovely.

Lift my courage, please.

I need You.

I love You.

Thank You, Father.

Thank you.

Prayer diffuses from us in all shapes and sizes and avenues. Each one spoken brings grace into you. Our hearts are the alter, and this is the place to begin to reap the rewards of sacred priorities. Prioritization. Choice.

Attend first the call of The Divine, and His work in you and me becomes His work of art.

This day will be our work of art.

Wake up. Quietly invite your Savior. Go.

“When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.” Matthew‬ ‭1:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Good Christmas Eve morning, God’s Child,

The same Creator of the Universe that created Joseph and Mary, created Christ, created the plan of salvation, and created you and me.

Do not take that lightly.

The great I AM, who made everything from nothing is certainly making something out of you. He is saying to you, “My Beloved Child, I AM not limited by time or distance. I AM with you. I can pick you up when you fall, give you all you need to step out in faith, alter your course to reveal the path I have given you with and in love. I will help you now that you have asked, I simply ask you to get out of My way … lay down the fear … the anger … the hatred … the limits you put on Me to help you. If you truly want My lead and My best for you, listen to Me through others I send to you, hear Me in music, in the wind, and mostly in the silence. If you truly want Me, then come to Me in your heart, just ask for it. Know that I AM here, and I will answer you. Have the courage to listen. Have the courage to step out in faith with Me.”

Just as Joseph and Mary heard from Him, and obeyed Him, and were guided by their faith in Him, you will be, too … when you get up from sleeping, like Joseph, and do as you have been commanded. The next move is yours.

Wake up.

You will be blessed.

December 22, 2015 changes everything

“Lord, there is no one like You among the gods, and there are no works like Yours.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭86:8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Good morning, ChristmasHeart!

Anybody ready for a breakthrough? A Christmas season BREAKTHROUGH worship experience that blows the doors off the hinges of the locked down, hanging-on-to-that-hurt place in the recesses of your heart?

I want you to know that there is a worship that changes everything…and, why does worship matter? Because, it is the one thing that God cannot give himself! He can do anything, but give himself worship … because in order to worship, you have to have something higher than yourself, and there is nothing higher than Him!

There is none higher than the MOST HIGH GOD!

So, when I am here, in this place, today, and raise my hands, it lets all the earth know I am saying, “I acknowledge You, my King!” And, it lets every devil in hell know they have no authority over me because I belong to another Kingdom. And, that’s where it begins.

This place. This day.

There is one worship that … If you can get it out … It will change everything -it break the chains from your life … it will send you running straight into your destiny that God intended.

Here’s the deal – when you call upon His name, DearOne, you get ALL of Him. You don’t just get a little piece, you get the entire Kingdom. You don’t just get His peace for a moment, you get His

-all-encompassing love,

-total, complete forgiveness,

-healing of all diseases,

-redeeming … redemption of life from destruction.

-a fresh crowning of living-kindness and tender mercies,

-youth renewed like eagles

-promises of deliverance

-His wisdom and guidance

-safety and protection

I could go on and on and on …

Set this as your marking place, RedeemedOne.

The Savior has come.

Raise your arms. Call His name.

Wake up.

Worship here.

Worship now.

Oh. Thank you, My King!

December 21, 2015 strangely wrapped

“God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it.” John‬ ‭3:17 ‭MSG‬‬

Good Morning, BelovedOne,
So, the other morning was typical. Routine. Like any other day. Anticipatory December morning. Leave the house, drive eastward, into the sun, to my campus. Morning prayer. I love the space that drive time provides, alone with my Maker. Content. Often reflective. Planning. Thinking. Feeling. Giving over the souls on my heart. “Your will, Lord. Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing else.”

Sometimes, even when it is cold, the window’s cracked or wide open. And, sometimes I land in surprising places when the crisp of winter air winds its way deep into memory. Gently at first, then there’s poking into those carefully guarded places. The deeper-still places. With a rush, the greatest days of childhood combine and explode into thoughts so vivid you can smell your dad’s t-shirt or see your mom’s raised brow and suddenly you’ve landed in a full sensory overload.

It’s an odd sensation, this flooding of existence with a life gone past, but, it’s not unpleasant. All those memories, good and bad, shout the same message – ‘I am alive’.

I caught myself grinning and wondered how many miles the grin had been there. Then, almost in guilt of the risen joy … I felt that grimace of my trademark (most hated) wrinkle between my eyebrows when I reached that particular day in memory where I must ask myself, “why in thunder did I do that?” and don’t really still have an answer. And, then realize – attempting to come up with an explanation for everything I’ve ever done, even if only to explain it to myself, is like trying to fight the government. Impossible.

DearHeart, the “whys” of our past declares purpose. Those places are simple packages our Savior uses to unpack our spiritual growth. Without mistakes, we’d never find ourselves in a position to need Him. If every decision was a perfect one, we’d never be desperate for His mercy. Without desperation we’d never experience His grace.

Yesterday, our lesson was on ‘Strangely Wrapped Gifts’. Who could have dreamed the Savior of the universe would come to us from the manger of a stable wrapped in swaddling clothes, instead of majestically bursting through the clouds on a commandingly extravagant white horse? But, in God’s perfect plan, the warmly wrapped baby saves us.

In God’s perfect plan, your past, no matter how ugly, is simply a gift to be unwrapped by Jehovah Rapha, The Great Healer. And, His best will grow you from there.

Wake up.

December 17, 2015 sweet peeps

“God went for the jugular when He sent his own Son. He didn’t deal with the problem as something remote and unimportant. In his Son, Jesus, He personally took on the human condition, entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all. The law code, weakened as it always was by fractured human nature, could never have done that. The law always ended up being used as a Band-Aid on sin instead of a deep healing of it. And now what the law code asked for but we couldn’t deliver is accomplished as we, instead of redoubling our own efforts, simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us.” Romans‬ ‭8:1-4‬ ‭MSG‬

Good morning, EmbracedOne,

Simply embrace. Don’t you love that?

The Creator has chosen to work in you. By sending His son, His work in you and me has begun.

The addictions.

The pride.

The selfishness.

The hate.

The lust.

The jealousy.

The critical spirit.

The greed.

“I can heal it”, He is saying to you and me. “All of it. You can start fresh, today.”

He sent His Son. And, by that sending, love came down. Allowing that love to dwell within. By giving Him ‘all-of-me’ access, He allows us to see through the games. So, if you and I were to sit down together, and look in further, not through the thinking mind, but through the God’s-Child-heart, I’ll tell you what I will see: light. Bookoos of light. Light like the sun, like the wonder of the moon and stars … all places … streaming rays of sweet beams out your eyes.

Oceans of love that radiate from your heart. And, peace. When you look deep enough, the terror calms, and the peace that He has given is found at the core of your being.

How do I know? Because, once you become God’s-child, Light sees Light.

Love sees Love. You don’t have to hide the dark parts anymore, because His love-struck Spirit rises.

Right here, this moment in time and space, you and I are swimming in a sea that is pregnant with possibility. God Almighty has set you here with purpose and longs for hearts to know it. It is why He sent His Son – to make a way to birth new Life in you and me. Open your beautiful heart to what is here, ready to take you His place of higher healing, higher calling.

Wake up.

December 16, 2015 tending

“Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:2-4‬ ‭NLT

Good morning, Spirit-filledOne,

Are you drawn to fire? Campfires … candles … stove top … flames? As a child of the Living God, I think we all have a fascination with a flame. I feel sure Joseph and Mary tended many a fire to keep the Savior Child warm and fed and keep His human physical warmth needs met so to tender the focus of His inner fire.

Most of us would do better if we became more aware of tending the Fire of our walk. Too often, we get side tracked, turn our back on the stove, forget to watch, forget to add fuel, forget to stir. We passively think our Fire is like one of those houseplants that can go for months, ignored – then the poor thing wilts to nothing.

The Fire bears watching, for it is easy to ignore. Without His flame, we go flat with the rage of unfulfilled mundane.

But, when tended – oh, when tended … the ability is fueled to measure things by a heart-glance, to weigh in an instant, to clear debris around an idea, to give the thing a name, to fire the essence of it with His vitality.

Then, when the fire of His Holy Spirit in us is tended, the same Power indwells in you and me that made it possible for a single tiny baby to lend Himself to giving you and me access to become an heir of the Kingdom of God Almighty.

That’s some kind of Power. I want to keep burning red-hot. Do you?

Wake up.

Tend the Fire.

December 15, 2015 make space

“Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean.

Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.” ‭Luke‬ ‭1:29, 38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Good morning, God’s Child,

I wonder if Gabriel was as confused as Mary. The angel of privilege – to deliver such news, the coming of long expected Messiah was very near … and, The Almighty was using this little girl … ! “Excuse me, Sir, did you say go to … HER? That one?! She’s a child … she’s never even been outta town … they will stone her … You can’t really mean … her?!”

God’s ways aren’t our ways. Mary knew – she’d sat with her mother and the women – she’d heard their chatter and their remarks – she would now be the topic of their circle.

Mary set the bar high – she chose to let go of the expectations … her’s and everyone else’s, and make room to simply trust.

Maybe you need to launch out of expectations for your life and simply trust your Creator. No matter what. Space that is consumed by expectations crowds out fulfillment. Fears clog up that space, and noise of all those self-demands interrupts the signal of the Holy. Freeing up space is a choice. Your choice. So just amp up the intensity of the desire to trust and give His ways space to enter in.

For Gabriel and Mary, trusting changed the course of all of creation. If it worked for them, it is meant to work as powerfully for you and me.

Wake up.

Make room for trust.

December 9, 2015 no app for that

“That’s when some of the people of Jerusalem said, “Isn’t this the one they were out to kill? And here he is out in the open, saying whatever he pleases, and no one is stopping him. Could it be that the rulers know that he is, in fact, the Messiah?” John‬ ‭7:25-26 MSG‬

Good morning, OpenHeart,

Jesus, born in a manger, in human skin, spent his entire lifetime digging deep and opening up. He could’ve run. But, He opened up more.

So, you have mind-shackles. Open up more.

Be open to other ways of seeing things. Sounds easy … seems impossible. Openness is not a passive exercise. You actually have to do openness.

Sometimes, opening up means ripping your heart wide open. Stepping back in the ring, as did our Savior.

Sometimes, it means staying just one minute longer when you only want to RUN. Like when Jesus bent down and wrote with His finger in the sand.

I bet He felt the fear and tightened a bit. He knew what He was dealing with, and stepped out in front of it. His folks had felt fear and chose to open up and step on through it.

Fear lets you know what you’re dealing with – so you can get out in front of it.

God knows.

Sweat, tremble stretch: as you steer your heart and mind to open up, you need to feel what’s in your body so you know what needs to be released. You need to notice it, so the Spirit can provide it a way out.

Wince, moan, and holler: Reread that again … tightness has a sound. And so does openness.

Declare, announce, and affirm: I’m afraid, God, but I trust You. I’m doing this anyway. I want what is on the other side so much that I am willing to get open and risk being hurt (again).

Ask, pray, invoke: Holy Spirit, help me expand into this opportunity. Angels, fight with me for this opportunity. God Most High, show me how to unfold.

Recall, Remember, Refine: I’ve done this before and I can do it again. God is with me. Others have gone before me and paved the way. I have angels that are on my side, rooting for and showing savvy solutions.

Lean back, have faith: when you open, there’s no guarantee that all will work out like you plan, or that you won’t get injured further along the way, but when you decide to be more open, that’s the only way that His strength, truth, and the power of the Deliverer can move through you.

Wake up.

Move in front of your fear.

“You Yourself have recorded my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your records?” Psalms‬ ‭56:8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Good morn, CompassionateOne,

I think Joseph must have been a an incredibly compassionate man – to take Mary as his wife, in spite of her condition. In spite of the wrath of his people, he surely endured – he answered to God alone in doing His will. Joseph did all he could to keep his family together. God knew his tears. And, Joseph trusted Him in spite of being alienated and shunned in the process.

Give this a thought before you jump out there in Christmas frenzy-land, listening and feeding off of getting hurt by the rants of others – just please reserve judgement. That’s not for you. Have compassion for everyone you meet. Place your pain at the foot of the cross and walk away.

What seems like conceit, bad manners, or cynicism, its always a sign no other eyes have seen, no ears have heard – you do not know what wars are going on down there, where their nature meets the bone.

He was rude.

She was cold and aloof.

He’s at the door – asking for a handout.

She lies.

She’s money hungry.

He’s grossly overweight.

They left without saying goodbye.

No one returned your call . . . you may never know the “why” behind someone’s less than ideal, ‘not the way I wish it was’ behavior, but here’s a curative for the sharp judgement that often accompanies our disappointment in others. . . just a single, surprisingly expansive phrase. . .

“you just never know”.

That’s it. God knows their wanderings, as He knows yours and mine.

You just never know.

Use the phrase before you jump to the conclusion that someone is a jerk, or that they need an attitude adjustment, or that they could be doing better than they are.

If you don’t understand, can’t comprehend, wonder what’s going on – there’s a reason for that . . . your Creator is pulling something deeper out of you, too.

This Christmas season, He is pulling a certain compassion out of you, too.

Wake up.

Seek compassion.

“The Lord is the One who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.” ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:8‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Good morning, LovedOne,

Your Creator says “My child, My love for you won’t walk out, fail, or ever come to an end.” Earth is a strange place to be for our soul. It is strange to be here. The mystery of longing to be “back home”, in the presence of God Most High never leaves. Behind our face, below the draft of our words, above every thought, the silence of another world, our true home, awaits. The sacred duty of our days is to simply learn how to live so we are more and more aware of His grasp. His presence leads us home.

Wake up.

Feel His grasp.
