“This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you—” Titus 1:5 ESV
Good morning, PlacedOne,
Surely, I’ve made a huge mistake. What have I done? God, why am I here?
Ever ask yourself this one? Yeah, me too.
I wonder how common, how often, our men and women in service ask?
DearHeart, this place where you are right now, God circled it on a map for you. He established it. He purposed this point. Here is why it is important to know that: you have been placed here to show them the kind of character Christ creates through faith in Him.
You = show them Christ.
Titus had this panic attack. You can almost hear him ask Paul, “What? Wait. Why am I here? This is not an ‘appropriate’ village. The Cretans are a miserable lot, gypsies, tramps, and thieves. Foulmouthed drunkards and gamblers. I don’t belong. Etc, etc. . . we can only imagine the rest.
And, in Paul’s letter, came the answer, “This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order” (Titus 1:5).
One of the sweetest voices you will ever hear is the voice of a healing answer. You have been called to be His light here. As a bonus, when I am in this “what am I doing here” state, I always get surprised by the saints who have been detoured by the Most High to share this place, too. One appears, every time, who sharpens me like a whet rock. You may just find, that in this place, there will be another who may become a spiritual giant to you, who teaches you a thing or two of how to answer, unruffled and patient when provoked.
So, call all His power back to you now. Sing His love songs through the Holy in you. Hear kindness in the voices of the faithful – voices kindly kindling new sparks amid the chatter of the lost.
Quest to the deepest peace, hear a confirming crescendo of the voice of the Almighty.
Mm. Yes, Lord. Keep me here… in this place, where you need me. As long as You stay, I’ll stay.
Wake up. Bring order. Go.
