‘When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple.’ Jonah 2:7 ESV
Good day, BelovedOne,
Jonah was in a pickle. I am pickle-prone, too. Crisis. The daily battles wear blisters on my heart and, I find myself tangled endlessly in seaweed. The fight tires me … and when I call to my Savior, He releases juices of creativity.
I don’t take to the idea that God causes pain and crisis. I just know they are part of life, and our Creator uses the havoc we create to move us to a place where we call to Him. Our voices trail from the emptiness of our depths into the temple of the Holy. His response then is the love we need to take us home, into His heart, again.
And I will also make every effort that you may be able to recall these things at any time after my departure. For we did not follow cleverly contrived myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; instead, we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.’ 2 Peter 1:15, 16
Good morning DearOne,
Memories are very peculiar. They spring up in the oddest places and the most unfit times. Does that happen to you, too?
Perhaps the Holy Spirit allows memories come and go with perfect purpose: to restore what has been lost, to take unruly experiences of life that we have lived and place them into a sensible whole. When memory’s story comes back to life, it is alive again. It moves us. It shapes us.
The Oklahoma wind outside is howling. It lulls. Then, like scenes we recall, it keeps searching through branches and native grass, restless to land from some bottomless depth.
Place your hands on your heart SweetSoul. Enter in with your Creator and ask Him to guide every haunting memory to a peaceful place and to fill them with His Majesty.
Lay them down.
‘For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, “ Abba, Father! ” The Spirit Himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children.’ Romans 8:15, 16
DearOne, you are called.
Familiar roads turn dark some days. Mysterious scenes play out before our very eyes, leaving behind caves of questions with no answers. We wring our hands and shake our heads. Tears slide off cheeks, clinging to a million “whys?”
Perhaps, in such light, our place is not to understand at all. Perhaps, our call here is simply to stand and stretch as far as our reach will go, and show our soul. For, when our soul is exposed with no limits, sparks of the Divine fly and fires get set in places where change must happen. Dim souls get lit from those unafraid of their Light and movements of our Creator’s fierce mercy begin.
To display Light in shadowy times like these is often the greatest act of bravery. It is the necessity.
Go to bed.
‘When the servant of the man of God got up early and went out, he discovered an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do? ” Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed, “ Lord, please open his eyes and let him see.” So the Lord opened the servant’s eyes. He looked and saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.’ 2 Kings 6:15-17
DearHeart, very often, in our daily-ness, we forget the ever-present, extreme oversight of God Almighty. The weight of the world presses down. It shoves and pushes til we wake far away, in the middle of a desert.
The crank on the old jalopy goes nowhere. And, our bones grow dry.
This is where we must see the desert with new eyes. Tiny desert life is highly concentrated. It is mysterious. A place where the Creator does most of His work underground. It’s not lush and green like a jungle. Desert life is very small on the surface – yet enormous underground.
We must keep walking straight through the dunes that last hard mile to finally step through to find the river beneath our dry riverbed.
You are not a frail, dissolving thing.
You are not alone.
Lord, open our eyes and let us see.
‘The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and watch over it.’ Genesis 2:15
Good mornin’ Beloved!
Waking up is a privilege this morn. It means Father God has a meaningful task that ~only you~ are suited to complete. He designed your cells to fire and spark together for production!
And, SweetSoul, even on a MONDAY we can have JOY during our labor and toil when we give the Almighty complete control of our attitude – joy comes through knowing God is with us.
Go to bed.
‘God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.’ Psalms 51:10
Sitting behind the wheel puts my thoughts in overdrive. So, when I stopped this morn and began to process, this is the result: you know, the role of the mind is to assure your survival. The mind tries to make sure you make choices that will get you through this moment and the next moment and the next. But, now follow me here . . .I want to suggest that what’s best for you may not be the most truthful mind idea at all. We have this cultural story that says that our basic instinct is the survival instinct. However, I am going to introduce to a fresh thought:
perhaps survival is not the most basic instinct, but perhaps the basic urge of life is to not to survive, but to display Divinity. The soul understands that survival is not an issue, because you have survived and you will survive, and as a child of your Creator, your eternity is sealed.
It’s a done deal.
When you take survival off the table, when your remove that as a concern, then the value system by which you make your decisions changes.
That’s why it takes courage to go where we are going today. We are going into an exploration of living this day as your truest self in the Spirit of the Holy.
Release yourself into the Holy.
Understand, this, DearHeart: survival is not the issue. Living in His Spirit is the plan.
‘You love Him, though you have not seen Him. And though not seeing Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice with inexpressible and glorious joy.’ 1Peter 1:8
It is an amazing marvel, SweetSoul, by giving your ~whole~ heart, an unstoppable force is born. The union with your Maker carries seeds of new life . . . as well as necessary deaths. He inspires an uncommon and extraordinary work in us that radiates JOY to those near us. And, in His chosen – they radiate His Holiness right back into us: JOY. Inexpressible.
Beloved, it is a profound occasion when something of value is born through someone’s belief in you … through their support of
It is art of the Master delivering His Divine to you via the hearts of His children.
A phenomenon of the Holy …
pouring in from Christ, through His beings who have been assigned to give their hearts to you in a deep manner.
Pour into someone.
Go to bed.
‘For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to Him.’ 1 Samuel 1:27 ESV
Good mornin’ SweetSoul!
The picture is of our brand new nephews, Hayden and Jennings Bryan. They are miracle babies. And, they have arrived. We asked the Almighty for them. We prayed big prayers. And, we got passionate and sold-out with our request. And, in perfect timing (not our timing), did God ever deliver!!
What are you asking of the Almighty? How will your request make a profound difference for His Kingdom? Will you work it like clay on a potter’s wheel? Water it with your blood and tears and laughter until it blooms? Through the elbow grease and sweat and pain, will you allow yourself to bloom in the process?
Oh DearHeart, your petitions lead to miracles. He so wants to add to the multi-volume set of your life-story. The crash and burn episodes lead in to another season, and another, and another, until glory finds its place in you.
God Most High is not afraid when you pray for your biggest dreams. He doesn’t turn away when you pray for the impossible. That doesn’t scare God. In fact, if you are not praying for the impossible, you are insulting God. For many, our prayer lives consist of stuff we could make happen with a little hard work and effort. God wants us to pray for things that require DIVINE intervention. Ask God to part a RED SEA, that’ll get His attention. Ask Father God for the sun to stand still. I wish our generation would pray the way Moses prayed. I believe things would change in our world if we began praying with that kind of passion and desire. I believe this is the generation that that begins to happen, and I believe it begins with you and me. This is a pivotal time for us.
There is nothing God loves more than fulfilling our hopes and dreams and this is what I believe, I believe that we are one prayer away from seeing God do something huge in your life that you never even dreamed possible . . . but He has been dying to give you.
‘May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.’ Psalms 19:14
This life-road will surely cause you to suffer frustration with well-meaning ones who expect you to be a machine part that fits into a bigger machine.
Often, they wish
same for you,
til you want to scream.
DearOne, the very heart of knowing your place comes from intimacy with your Creator. Prayer time doesn’t mean you are the one doing all the talking. It means you open up to listen. And, meditation isn’t always a stop at an ice cream shop … very often, that depth takes you to a place that demands sacrifice. He demands we put limits on the influence of the world and open up to the redeeming power of, “yes, Lord”. He often demands we give up our crutches. The deeper we go into the ways of God Most High, the more it affects all of our relationships. Things may get rocky, but, Sweetheart, His way is right.
Trust His ways.
You are worth it!
Worth every blessing He lathers on you-
Go get it!
