Deep breath, QuietOne,
As the Holy birthday nears, it seems as if the freight train gathers steam and the extravaganzas flash at us from all directions.
Our family is steeped in traditions of the holiday season – and what a gift and treasure those traditions have become! We grow those and hold them tight from year to year and it is a THRILL to see them pass from one generation to the next! Little ways that remind each of us that this season isn’t just about hoop-la: it’s all about our Christ!
Look around you for precious ones with hearts of heaviness.
Someone needs your slightest nod. They need a moment.
Perhaps, you are the one that needs the moment.
Ask them about their favorite Christmas and about traditions they have known. Let your conversation lead to a light of JOY in their eyes. Take them to Him through their very own memories and leave them with a quietness where brokenness had been lingering too long.
‘Yahweh your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will bring you quietness with His love. He will delight in you with shouts of joy.” Zephaniah 3:17
‘because He has looked with favor on the humble condition of His slave. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed, because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and His name is holy.’ Luke 1:48, 49
Listen SweetSoul, this call is for you.
Did you know, you do, indeed have a calling? Yes, you DearOne.
Mary – so young, so wise. She acknowledged her gift. She acknowledged her role. She: scared, alone … she trusted with her whole heart. Every ounce of her said, “yes”. She didn’t have to understand Him. She chose – she chose … to honor Him.
Beloved, I often see people with profound gifts, but they fluff them off as “no big deal, it’s just something I do”.
Get this Chickee:
Your calling- the thing your heart longs for you to spend more time doing for the greater good, that ‘thing you do’ is a loose canon for growth and sharing and sacred commerce.
To choose to set it aside and conform to everyone else’s idea of who they think you should become is like throwing a mud pie in the face of the Almighty.
Think about it, sacred commerce: I take care of you, support you with my resources and gifts, and you take care of me with yours. An exchange of sacred trust – and a way we serve and honor Father God’s plan for us.
It’s all about choices.
It’s all about honor.
It all about Him.
‘And the angel came to her and said, “Rejoice, favored woman! The Lord is with you.” Luke 1:28
Your presence is no small thing, you know. Like Mary, when you say, “yes”, you are God’s child. You shine.
An ordinary earthling, she blended in with the crowd.
The small-minded, self-appointed “religious ones” of her day would have likely dismissed her call as foo-foo. But, she followed her heart … yes, you could say she followed the call of her Creator hook, line, and sinker. She went all-in. And, she did not give the small minds a chance to talk her out of it. Mary’s freedom came from letting go of what others might think, and choosing to give Father God everything she had.
In cold-blood she walked away.
She stepped aside.
She got some fresh air.
She went to God’s people…reminded herself who she was in God Most High, and didn’t let the small minds convince her that her dreams were too big.
When your call begins to repeat and pull, throw the small-minded aside.
Your only answer is, “yes, Lord”.
From national media to your closest family, it seems the real world is geared to be hyper-critical. You and I are a far cry from perfection. That’s ok. This world doesn’t reward perfection; and your Creator doesn’t expect perfection.
So, show your smile-light – even on days that register 99% imperfect.
Let it be ok in your world: life is not perfect.
People aren’t either.
Choose to be happy anyway.
Go to bed.
‘A joyful heart makes a face cheerful, but a sad heart produces a broken spirit.’ Proverbs 15:13
‘When Joseph got up from sleeping, he did as the Lord’s angel had commanded him. He married her.’ Matthew 1:24
Brrr DearOne! It is a chilly morning on the plains! I bet Joseph got the chill when he explained his plans to marry Mary anyway … talk about a cold shoulder – doing right in Father God’s eyes was surely in sharp contrast to what his family and friends were advising him to do about Mary and her … uhm … ‘condition’.
Sometimes, in our human skin, we fail to do the right thing because of what people will say …. what will they think … and, SweetSoul, this, you need to let absorb into your noggin: when you answer God Most High with a “yes, Lord” and then do it, your efforts in the long-run will bring blessings your mind can’t even begin to imagine. Blessings will begin to press in on you from the most unlikely places and compound.
Where is Father God asking you to step out a little further? It is time to open that door.
Stay warm, Chickees!
Rise and Shine Dearheart!
There is ginormous power in ‘showing up’ SweetSoul. Very often, God reveals His grace on you in the unexpected places … at unexpected times.
He sees you and me in our routines, in our same-ole, same-ole. It is in those muscle-memory duties that He often appears in your distraction so you are rocked and invited to go beyond your belief. Picture this throwing a kink in your routine, God’s Child. Jesus said these words to Nathaniel when He called him. Prepare yourself to be dramatically transformed in your response:
‘Then He said, “I assure you: You will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”’ John 1:51
Good morn, God’s Child!
“How about if we don’t put on ALL the ornaments, then it won’t take as long to take down?” asked my common-sense, always-plan-ahead son.
My heart smiled, and I told him how each ornament represents the years of our family life. Each has been made or received with love, and each has a story of its own.
Small tokens with a single purpose of being created by hands celebrating the One who died to offer you and me ETERNITY. Hanging them, one-by-one, His holiness is called to enter – enter home, enter heart, with fresh awareness.
Simple ways are often the most meaningful….placing on treasures that grow in memory of that which is eternal.
‘Now I praise you because you always remember me and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you.’ 1 Corinthians 11:2
Planning my day in His Spirit, SweetSoul- perhaps, you will, too?
An unexpected refrain from the ordinary – a snowed-in Friday. Christmas decorating -why yes, I believe so … and, so this day can only begin the book of Luke.
Mesmerized and caught off-guard by God’s Gabriel angel, Mary’s mindset must have been purely blown. But, her response, in spite of her doubt, was purely that of trust and solid commitment for one of the highest acts of obedience.
You may feel unworthy. But, Dearheart, don’t limit Father God’s choices by feeling small. He will use you when you trust Him. Trust His ways.
‘And the angel came to her and said, “Rejoice, favored woman! The Lord is with you.” But she was deeply troubled by this statement, wondering what kind of greeting this could be.’ Luke 1:28, 29
‘God saw the Israelites, and He took notice.’
Father God’s plan takes you to a higher place in Holiness. He is drawing you in, even on the days His work is in the shadows – yes, even in the seasons His work is in the background.
His ways are highly active in your hours, even in the mundane … His timing is perfect and in motion – His timing is a strong flame, beating against a glass in order to be freed in your dark places.
He has taken notice of your lost parts. And, your rescue is coming.
‘Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!’ Micah 7:19
Good morning, BeautifulOne:
It is said, that even in the desert, Father God provides more miracles per square mile than most any other place on earth. When your life turns on a dime, Dearheart, when all that you thought was a ‘sure thing’ suddenly dissolves into thin air, and you find your heart’s tired legs, staggering, falling off to the left of the sunrise, know this, God sends His compassion. Look for Him. Look for miracle birds that know the way to the rocks that hide water. Look for the ‘aha’ in the way He sends insects to show you how to crawl on your belly to the place you can drop your full face into a refreshing pool.
My precious – when you look for Him and look for His ways you will find Him.
His compassion never fails.
