Unsuspecting…
‘Then the woman left her water jar, went into town, and told the men, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah? ” (John 4:28, 29 HCSB)
Jesus confronts us at the most unsuspecting times; have you noticed? My man is recovering from major surgery. He is a pill-a-phobe and hates, hates, hates taking pills. These pain pills have done a number on him, so he has quit taking them except for the bare minimum.
Now, I’m trying to be a decent nurse, and have found that I am the world’s worst at it. He hurts and I’m thinkin’ – ‘dude, enough, get over it’. (Ooo, did I really just admit that to you?!) (confronting truth gets ugly sometimes, huh? Like cold water thrown in your face).
Ouch.
And, you know what Father God does with that kind of selfish attitude? He keeps putting me down on my knees, every day, in front of my healing man, to redress his wound. And, each time I am bending, God uses that low place to trigger floods of how lucky and blessed I am and how precious every life is to Him. Every life. Every one. Your’s too.
Sometimes, we don’t like our lives sliced open and laid bare where we are forced to confront our ugly places.
It happens every day Dearheart …. all around us … the Almighty reminds us that life is not defined by our weaknesses and failures, but by the quality of a spirit that is willing to be refreshed by His abiding presence.
Make it a watchful day Beautiful One.
